Round 13
We need a good coach selection

Round 12 was acceptable, but it could have been even better if, once again, we had not made a poor coach selection. Lietkabelis defeated Ulm, resulting in a well-deserved -10 from our coach choice. On the positive side, our player selections were satisfactory, and overall we can be content with 176.66 points and a 1.7 credit gain. We also improved our global ranking and now stand at position 470.
For Round 13, before starting our selections, we noticed that the games are unevenly distributed between the two Turns. This directly affects our planning, as we need to focus primarily on players participating in Turn 1. Otherwise, we would have certainly selected Devante JONES (14.7 CR), who is currently one of the hottest players in the game.
We begin with the coach selection. After two very poor choices, it is time to return to a safer and more calculated option. The coach position is crucial, as there is no flexibility for replacement, the point deviation can range from +25 to -20, and performance often directly affects credits. Unfortunately, for Round 13, there is no obvious choice that guarantees a positive outcome. Even the matchup between Besiktas and Ulm may hide traps, as Ulm has proven to be highly unpredictable, something we experienced first-hand in the previous Round. After careful consideration, we decided to go with Tautvydas SABONIS (5.1 CR) from London Lions. London Lions won their first-round matchup, and the momentum seems favorable to repeat their success against Niners Chemnitz.
Regarding our player roster, we will once again keep our centers unchanged. MOCKEVICIUS delivered 16 points in Round 12 and still appears undervalued, as he plays more than 20 minutes per game while his value remains below 10. Additionally, Neptunas faces Hamburg, one of the weakest teams in defending the center position. YEBO remains one of the top centers in the game, and there is no reason to move on from him at this stage.
As mentioned in the previous Round, our plan is to replace two mediocre Forwards, JAMES and WHEATLE, with higher-quality options who can support our team in the long run. JAMES also recorded his best performance so far with 11 points, making this an ideal moment to sell. We will also move on from FLYNN, whose value is at its highest this season. Moreover, Bahcesehir recently added another dominant guard, FORD, which is likely to negatively affect FLYNN’s minutes and potentially his PIR output. We prefer not to take that risk.
For the open Forward positions, we selected Amine NOUA (11.2 CR), one of the key contributors to Aris’ recent improvement. He plays around 25 minutes per game and contributes across multiple statistical categories, particularly points, rebounds, and fouls drawn. His last performance was disappointing, allowing us to acquire him at a more attractive price. The main concern is Aris’ demanding schedule over the next four games, but we decided to trust our instincts. Importantly, NOUA plays in Turn 1. The second Forward addition is Alec ANIGBATA (4.0 CR). There is little risk involved in this selection, and he also plays in Turn 1.
In place of FLYNN, we once again bring in Umoja GIBSON (10.9 CR). We removed him from our team in the previous Round due to performance concerns, but he responded with a solid 24.2 PIR. Although his upcoming matchup is challenging, the following games are more favourable and should allow him to post high PIR numbers. He plays in Turn 1 and also gives us a strong captain option.
Therefore, GIBSON will be our captain for Turn 1, with HARPER available for Turn 2. In Turn 1, we realistically have expectations from only two players, both of whom are new transfers this Round. Overall, our team appears to be in good shape, with reliable and productive players across all positions. We can only hope that this time our coach selection will not disappoint us, as it did in the previous two Rounds.
