Round 19 helped our team reach position 193 in the global standings, our highest ranking since the beginning of this year’s tournament. It is true that the playoff format does not favor strategic flexibility in fantasy. Essentially, we are now taking advantage of our increased budget by investing in superstars who participate in every Round.
In Round 20, the quarterfinals, we have two games in each Turn. This setup gives us some room for maneuvering. Our strategy for this Round is to balance players across both Turns while taking more risks in Turn 1, so that any underperformance can potentially be corrected through substitutions in Turn 2.
We decided to invest heavily in the Guard position, where most of the high scorers and dominant players can be found. At the same time, we selected the best Center of this year’s competition and hope that at least one of the three Forwards playing in Turn 1 will deliver a strong performance and remain in our lineup for Turn 2.
More specifically, for the Guards we selected:
Malachi FLYNN (15.6 CR) and Umoja GIBSON (12.7 CR) for Turn 1
Devante JONES (17.7 CR) and Jared HARPER (19.4 CR) for Turn 2
Arguably, these are the four best Guards available for this Round (with RUSSELL also deserving a mention), and we are hoping for standout performances in such high-stakes games.
At the Center position, we expect a strong contribution from Ante ZIZIC (16.0 CR), while Furkan HALTALI (4.0 CR) completes the position as a low-cost option.
Our Forward line consists of:
Both GACH (11.6 CR), our strongest option, especially considering his excellent home performances
Rok RADOVIC (4.8 CR), who plays between 15 and 20 minutes per game and delivered an impressive 23.10 PIR two Rounds ago
Tre MITCHELL (7.9 CR), the best available option at this budget level for Turn 1
As mentioned earlier, if even one of these Forwards reaches around 20 points, our objective for this position will be achieved.
For the coach position, we selected Marko BARAC (8.6 CR) from Bahcesehir, despite some negative past experience with him in a previous home game. Nevertheless, Bahcesehir has already defeated U-BT Cluj Napoca twice this season, which gives us confidence in this choice.
The Guard-heavy strategy gives us a strong scoring foundation. If one Forward steps up and the coach delivers, the ceiling is very high. A solid execution here could push us even closer to the top tier of the rankings. FLYNN will be our captain for Turn 1, with HARPER ready to take over in Turn 2 if needed.
