Round 5 started on a promising note but Turn 2 turned into a small setback for our team. NIZIOL never appeared on the court, Neptunas pulled off an impressive away win, and MINCHEV delivered a rather quiet performance. Still, our budget increased, and we came close to breaking the 150-point mark (finishing with 147.95 points). That’s enough reason to keep our faith and optimism alive as we move forward.
For this round, we’ll make a few strategic adjustments in pursuit of the elusive 20 points from the coach position. We’ll be:
Replacing NIZIOL, who was absent from his team’s domestic game.
Selling CARRINGTON, who faces a difficult matchup.
Upgrading our second center position, parting ways with TURUDIC after three solid rounds.
We’re keeping MINCHEV, mainly because we need his availability for Turn 1.
After reviewing the available Turn 1 options, we’ve decided to bring in Nikola TANASKOVIC (8.4 CR). The matchup against Beşiktaş won’t be easy, but Tanasković can deliver a strong value-to-performance ratio, as he contributes across multiple statistical categories. His high free-throw percentage adds extra stability to his fantasy output.
We explored several Guard and Forward options for Turn 1 with the goal of boosting our budget, but no standout choices emerged. Eventually, we settled on Doğuş OZDEMIROGLU (8.8 CR).
Panionios is struggling with injuries, especially in the backcourt, and OZDEMIROGLU —being a true playmaker and first-pass guard—should see significant usage. If he gets a few clean looks, he could produce a strong PIR and drive his price upward.
Our final addition is Jakub URBANIAK (5.5 CR), a teammate of NIZIOL. He’ll likely stay on our bench as a budget-growth candidate. URBANIAK averages around 25 minutes per game, doesn’t post huge numbers, but offers low risk and solid value for money. That said, if we face another disappointment from a Polish team player, we may need to steer clear of that team in future rounds—apparently, we’re struggling to decode their rotation patterns!
