Round 9

Returning after the break

Welcome to our weekly Euroleague - Eurocup Fantasy weekly column. If you want to  check our Fantasy Approach please click on the following link

Third round in a row where our team performs well: 180.9 points and 2.6 credits profit. It is clear proof that our team is solid and that it is mostly due to bad luck that we still haven’t reached a 200-point performance. In Round 8, the main issue was the poor performance of BENITEZ, but we will discuss that later. As we continue climbing toward the top of the league, our goal is now clear: we want to rank within the highest 1% of teams participating in this year’s EuroCup Fantasy — meaning the top 300 teams. Currently, we are in position no704.

For this round’s planning, we begin with the coach position, switching MITROVICIC for the coach of Manresa, Diego OCAMPO (6.2 CR). Although Manresa is having a difficult year with poor results, they face Hamburg at home — the only team without a victory this season. It seems like a good opportunity for an easy win and a fresh start after the break.

We will keep BENITEZ despite his poor performance in the previous round. We do not believe he will underperform two rounds in a row, and we do not want to sell him now that his value has decreased compared to when we first added him. On the contrary, we will sell JENSEN, who increased his value by 0.8 after his excellent, season-high performance in Round 8. In his place, we will select one of this year’s superstars: Malachi FLYNN (14.7 CR). Last round was catastrophic for FLYNN, who finished with just 2 PIR. His value dropped by -0.6, making him a very tempting option for his home game against Neptunas. This season, FLYNN has never scored below 20.9 PIR at home and regularly plays around 30 minutes. Of course, this move requires a significant portion of our budget, leaving limited resources for the remaining two trades, but we believe FLYNN will deliver a 20+ PIR performance and contribute both points and credit growth.

The next change in our roster will be SKARA. With CHOUGKAZ returning, SKARA played only 12 minutes. We were fortunate he still achieved a double-digit PIR, but this appears to be the right time to move on before future underperformances. The fourth change will be KOKILA, who didn’t contribute much to our team. In their positions, we will recruit two players with modest expectations: Tre MITCHELL (7.3 CR), who plays around 20 minutes, and Danielius LAVRINOVICIUS (4.3 CR), who is part of his team’s rotation and has an extremely low value, minimizing any risk.

Our team is unbalanced this round, as most of our players participate in Turn 1, and we lack a reliable captain option for Turn 2. We were tempted to select FLYNN as captain for Turn 1, but we don’t want to repeat the same mistake twice, so we will stick with HARPER.Our team has performed well over the last three rounds, and we hope for similar continuation, even though the two-week break has created a slight gap in our rhythm and confidence. In any case, we are ready to enjoy another round of basketball and fantasy excitement.
